Ok ok ok....I'm sorry! I haven't updated our blog in SO long, but those of you on Facebook sure get to see a lot of our latest stuff. Maybe it's just because I work 2 jobs...well, 3 including the Mom part, maybe it's just because I forget, or maybe it's because I am simply making up excuses. We were up doing fall pictures for a few families, and while up there, I took a few "test shots" of the landscape that turned out a lot nice than I expected. So I thought I would take a few minute break from post processing, and play with this picture....just to mix things up. :-)

Adobe has these crazy Halloweens every year where our office literally transforms into random themes and fully dressed up staff. If you don't dress up, you are truly in the minority. My group did 80's theme, and played the band....the real one that played real instruments....hahaha. :-)

Aaron and Jessie Engagements - Utah Engagement Photography

In all honesty, I have been having a hard time with names lately....calling clients by other clients names. (some of you can relate...hahaha...) But at least the guy and girl name was fairly obvious. I think this is the first one where the name could go either way. Hahaha....

So this photoshoot has a cute story behind it. They got engaged earlier that day....the same day we did the pictures. The day started out with a bunch of red roses, a hike, and then while sitting on a rock together looking over the valley, Aaron got down on one knee and proposed. How exciting to shoot the same day that they got engaged.

We went to a lake just off of the Legacy Freeway (I think that is what it is called) and it was a gorgeous location...and our first time going there.

Then we moved on to a sunset next to a lake....perfectly romantic. By the way, that is one of the roses he gave her earlier that same day.

By the way, it was the 24th of July, so we could utilize fireworks, we could hear fireworks going off all around us.

Linh's Bridals

We did Linh's wedding last year, but we enjoyed it so much, that we wanted to do another shoot with her. I know this seems weird, but I loved the straps on her dress! Why you ask? So many dresses now a days (aside from the modest type) portray a bare shoulder look, and I think it is SO much better to use the shoulders to show off dainty details, even if they are thin little straps. :-)

This wedding started out on a fun note...hahaha.... First of all, we needed to meet up with the bride and groom for getting ready pictures, and the bride had given us with an interesting address. Let me give you an idea of what it looked like without giving out the address:

500 East 125 West
(Not the real address)

What is wrong with this address you ask? Well, there is no East AND West road that intersects at any point because they are both going North & South. Hahaha...this was a great way to start the day since I drove to every variation of this address looking for the right location. We finally met up, and the day, like any other wedding day, was full of busy-goodness! All the girls were getting prettied up, and the guys were hanging out on the couches and playing games. HAHA....it was awesome!

The day was HOT...like, super hot....so be sure to scroll down to see what the bride and groom did on a whim....

One Sunday, we were able to get out and go for a walk around the block, with our kids tagging along on their bikes. This is a rare opportunity because we are almost always entertaining family or working on pictures on Sunday evenings. Well, we forced ourselves out, and after our first lap around the block, we noticed that the sky was looking REALLY cool. And then our dog pooped on the neighbors driveway!!! So my awesome husband ran down the road to get some stuff to clean it up, and came back with the camera too. YAY! So this is when we started walking up the hill to the temple, and got these shots.

Lisa's Bridals - Utah Bridals - Photography

This bridal had an interesting story behind it. When we arrived at Gardener Village, and Lisa went to go change into her dress, she realized that she forgot the ribbon to lace up the back of her dress. Disaster right? WRONG! Me and her daughter spent the next 15 minutes running around the place trying to find ribbons that would allow her to do up the back of her dress. Finally, there was a quilting shop on the opposite end of the the place that graciously lent us some scissors and a string of perfectly colored and thick ribbon that she could use. Of course we returned the scissors with a HUGE thank you, but they seriously saved the day! Thanks cute little quilting shop place (Sorry, I don't remember the name of the store)

Olsen Family Shoot...another cutie to remember

This was our first shoot at the Lavender Farms up in Mona, and it was SUCH a gorgeous place! Seriously, I would do another shoot there any day. (And I don't like to shoot in the same place twice) This is one of the little girls that I got the pleasure of shooting, and let me just say, I'm jelous! One day, I hope to have a little girly girl of my own....hahaha...but in the meantime, I will settle for taking pictures of little cuties like this one.

My son just learned how to ride a bike without Training Wheels, and he made the mistake of doing it without a helmet. Sad! This is what happened. Actually, this was the next day. Unfortunately he couldn't smile any bigger than this because his lip was so swollen, but it was pretty traumatizing to see. I just remember him coming in and his face had blood all over it, and his mouth was drooling blood. I was SO scared! Not to mention I get queasy at the sight of blood. It was REALLY hard to be a good mom and be there to clean him up and help him feel comforted all while my hands were shaking and I'm about to burst into tears myself.

This picture was taken the next day when we were finally able to get him into the bathtub and clean up any excess blood. All you see here is just the scabs of what was leftover.

Temple with Lightning

Did I seriously not put these up yet?? Geez. So, there was some cool lightning going on one night, and since we live right next to the temple, we grabbed the camera, and took off toward the temple. I took a gazillion pictures hoping to get the lightning in one of the pictures. And these were the coolest ones.

Tracy, my lovely little sister...got engaged...and wanted something more unique. Since she is a model, and always getting prettied up for her modeling shoots, we came up with the idea that we could do something in the bedroom....just comfy cozy type pictures. Nothing formal. In fact, we even had them wear pajama-type clothing just for the fun of it. Definitely different from her typical photo shoots.

This is one of those rare opportunities when I get to do the shoot by myself. Usually it's me and my husband, but he was in China at this time on a business trip. (Lucky Duck) but I absolutely loved this shoot. I had a lot more planned at a different location, but this orchard just worked out perfectly for what I was hoping to get. Not only was the location good, but the bride was gorgeous. She has this naturally curly hair...and when put into larger curls, they just look amazing. She is definitely a diamond in the rough!

Notice the style of hat that Justin is wearing here? Yup, very cowboy-ish huh? And that totally describes his personality, as well as Jamie's. But...really his personality. He not only talked the talk but walked the walk...and even had a few posing ideas for himself. HAHAHA...what a gorgeous couple...almost country meets city, and then converted city to become more contry-ish (Only she really was country-ish already)

These horses were brought in specifically for this shoot. Jamie rode her horse, and he rode Jamie's Dad's horse. When I first found out horses were going to be involved, I was both excited, and nervous. Animals can be kinda hard to shoot sometimes, especially if they aren't workable. Well these horses were PERFECT...and Mike and I both had a blast shooting this couple!

Ok...please be forgiving since this is my first official video. Mat and Nat had their sealing yesterday, and I was so excited because we had a replacement camera in time to capture it. I thought I would try my hand at video...and this is what I came up with.

I picked the song from Anastasia because I once heard Mat and Nat singing it together after watching Anastasia, and Nat had such a cute high princess voice, and Mat had a much more masculine voice, and they just sounded so cute together. So I used this song to commemorate that moment where they were singing together after randomly watching a child's cartoon.

A big thanks Mat and Nat for putting up with my randomness with these videos. :-) You were the perfect couple to try this with! Enjoy!

TRAGEDY!!

We had a bit of a trajedy over this last weekend. After we did a photoshoot at the Salt Lake Temple, our car was broken into, and all of our camera equipment was stolen. Our car doors were locked, and everything was hidden behind tinted windows, and put in it's place. So it can't be said that we didn't take precautionary measures to prevent this from happening. This all happened within the hour we left Salt Lake City Temple. I heard rumors that this type of theft was going on, and it seemed so much like "it might happen to THEM...but not US" kind of situation. Well, it happened to us!!

It was a heart-wrenching situation for both my husband and I because not only was our stuff gone, but the pictures we took were gone with our equipment.

We immediately called the police, and had the car finger-printed, and got finger-printed ourselves. Although we were sorely upset by the situation, I will admit, it was quite exciting to go to the SLC Police Department's Crime Lab. :-) Sadley enough, I wanted to take pictures of it as evidence....but we didn't have our cameras!!! Trust me, that was a VERY enfuriating thought!!!

After leaving the Police department, we went out to our locked car, to find out that the lock was entirely ruined, (that is how they got into our car) and both of our keyless remotes had dead batteries. So we had to call the police back out to help us unlock our car.

TO ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS or if you know a professional photographer....PLEASE let them know to go STRAIGHT home after a temple wedding. Especially if it is at the Salt Lake City temple. Check to be sure they aren't being followed. This could be devastating for anyone who makes this their full time job. Not to mention, I know a few single Mom photographers out there who would be in a worse spot than we are if this happened to them. If anyone see's any suspicious activity in Salt Lake consisting of camera's being gathered from a car, or a photogerapher being followed, please gather license plate information and call the police immediately. We want this these people to get caught!!

Both Mike and I agree that this was one of the more happy couples we have seen married. Linh and Brent had the most genius suggestion to go to the Bonneville Salt Flats for pictures. We had never been there, but soon found why they were SO amazing, and why so many photoshoots are done up there. We took our Studio lighting up there to ensure the best lighting possible..and we were incredibly pleased with our results. This is one of our favorite photoshoots of the year thus far!

Joe....my little brother...is now engaged with the cutest girl ever. She is sweet, and admirably independent. She has already been in a mission, and lived in Hawaii. Due to her small stature, we were able to do some really fun shots that we might not do with just anyone, like sitting on Joe's shoulders. We went up to American Fork Canyon for these pictures, and although she was super scared of being so high up...she allowed us to get some amazing shots. This couple has the coolest wedding story ever. They eloped to Bahamas, and got married on the beach. How sweet and romantic is that. But now that it is over, they still wanted the pictures. And fair enough. They have some of the most unique outfits thus far. It was an "exotic beauty" meets a "tough biker rebel"...which made for one smokin couple! My gorgeous little sister had the most amazing hair stylist do her hair, and she wanted to get pictures of it after they were done. I was so excited at how these turned out. As you can see on one of the pictures, we attempted to put sugar on her lips and eyes...just for fun.

Omniture Holiday Party

We had a black tie company party last night that, as always, was amazing. I found my dress at a shop that was going out of business, an it was only $20. With some beads and a big flower, I think it turned out alright. After the party, Mike got a few pictures. I tried to get some of him in his tux, but he really didn't want me to. But I love how these turned out.

Every photographer will attest that when you have the client allow the photographer to do whatever they want, you can get some pretty cool stuff! Meghan was a perfect example of this. She lived way out of the way, and yet she came clear to Utah Valley to get some of these pictures. I loved this photoshoot, and I will post up more pictures later. But we definately had a blast getting some of these!

So my little brother got engaged on Friday, and we were so excited, we got his engagements done immediately. Poor Mat just had a knee surgery a little while back and was still on crutches. He was so awesome to work with us even though he was in pain.

We did this couple's wedding, and they were SO fun, that we made a special offer to do a follow up Engagement (No, we didn't get the honor of doing their engagements before the wedding). They let us help decide what to wear, and let us do whatever we wanted. it was a 4 hour photoshoot, but some of these pictures are definitely my favorites!

I just realized that the last 4 sets of pictures on this page were photoshoots I did all in the same day. I started the day with the Heibs. Then I did Ann Dee and Bret, and then I did Bonnie's (kinda at the same time as Ann Dee's pictures) and then that evening we did the Ignacio's. That was one of the busiest Saturdays I've had in a while, but I think we got some really cute pictures out of it. :-)

We have shot some really cute families, but this one was by far the most photogenic. Every single family member could not take a bad picture....it was one of the easiest photoshoots ever! 15 minutes into it, and we had plenty of great shots!

This was a fun photoshoot we did at Gardner Village, and there were SO many people there that it was hard to get pictures without other people in them. But we were still able to get some great pictures.

Bonnie is one of the best friends you could ever have!! She is sweet, sincere, and doesn't have a selfish bone in her body. Last time she came to Utah, we took a few shots of her, and need I say anything?
